Violence Mars Parliamentary Voting In Afghanistan
Taliban rocket strikes and bombings kept some Afghans away from the polls Saturday but others braved threats to cast ballots in parliamentary elections being closely watched as a measure of the government's ability to fight against insurgents as well as entrenched corruption.
