The Root: Inertia Guides U.S. Policy In Afghanistan
News of the five G.I.s on trial for killing civilians in Afghanistan has been met with shock in the media, but Les Payne of The Root is not surprised. He saw similar behavior at the Mai Li massacre in Vietnam, and argues that killing will not stop until the inertia and complexity of U.S. foreign policy is reversed.
